Due to an increase in the number of children being removed from their homes, the Center is in need of new clothes for kids newborn–14 years.

Victim advocate Jan and I were at the Center late one night last week with an emergency case. Casey and her brother were to be removed from their home because of physical abuse. Neither child was wearing clothing that fit, nor had the clothing experienced a washing machine in quite a while. Casey was injured, tired and scared, and we were doing all we could to comfort her until CPS found placement for them. Jan was putting together a "My Stuff" bag for each child, and decided to let Casey change into a clean pair of pajamas. After a good face washing and hair combing, Casey emerged from the bathroom wearing her brand new Disney princess nightgown, holding it out to each side as she twirled down the hallway dancing with her invisible prince. The smile on her face was unforgettable-it was not often she received anything new and special. This one little gesture went a long way in helping Casey realize she deserved better, and hopefully this would be the beginning of her healing.

When it is discovered that children are not safe to return to their homes, the CAC provides a "My Stuff" bag with personal care items such as toothbrush, hairbrush, shampoo, etc, along with a clean set of pajamas and clothes to help them through the first couple of days in foster care or in a group home. Unfortunately, due to high demand, our supplies are low.
